Movie List

Hi everybody! Red and Cookie here. It’s time for our annual top 10 list of Christmas films that feature dogs! (By the way, when we say ‘annual’, that’s in human years. We couldn’t do a list every 52 days!)

So, without any further ado, here is our top 10 list! (Drum roll please.)

Number 10

Just barely edging in at number 10, but still making the list is:
“An All Dogs Christmas Carol”
From 1998 It’s a canine-themed adaptation of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol”, featuring all your favorite characters from All Dogs Go to Heaven.

Number 9

More recent, from 2013, is:
“Christmas with Tucker”
A heart warming film. We watch as a boy bonds with a dog named Tucker during a tough winter, after the tragic death of his father.

Number 8

“The Dog Who Saved Christmas Vacation”
This is a sequel to “The Dog Who Saved Christmas”, where Zeus thwarts another robbery, this time during a holiday vacation. If you liked “The Dog Who Saved Christmas”, you’ll love this!

Number 7

“Chilly Christmas”
Another crime busting film from 2012 where a young boy and his dog, Chilly, team up to stop holiday thieves from ruining Christmas.

Number 6

Because we’re not good at math
“The 12 Dogs of Christmas” is in our number 6 position.
In this film set during the Great Depression, a girl uses dogs to teach people about the true meaning of Christmas in a town where dogs are banned.

Number 5

Lucky number 5 is: “Beethoven’s Christmas Adventure.”
Lovable dog Beethoven must rescue a Christmas elf and retrieve Santa Claus’ magic toy bag from crooks.
Based on a true story.
No, just kidding about that.

Number 4

Passing the halfway mark with our #4 pick: “Santa Buddies”
If you like puppies then you’ll enjoy this. The ‘Buddies’, a group of golden retriever puppies, team up with Puppy Paws to remember the true meaning of Christmas.

Number 3

Another crime stopper! “The Dog Who Saved Christmas.”
A crafty canine jumps to the rescue when two bumbling thieves target his master’s home during the holidays. Did you like “Home Alone”? Well, this is sort of that – but with doggies!

Number 2

In the number 2 position and runner up for best Christmas film that feature dogs, is: “The Search for Santa Paws” from 2010.
A talking dog and an orphan must save Christmas after Santa Claus loses his memory.
At least, I THINK that’s what it’s about.
I saw a squirrel and lost my memory of the plot.

Number 1

And finally, the very BEST Christmas film that feature dogs for 2024:
“A Dog Named Christmas.”
A absolutely heartwarming story of a young man with a developmental disability, who fosters a dog for Christmas, and winds up inspiring his entire community.

Well – that’s our list. Do you agree?
What is your favorite holiday movie featuring dogs from 2024?
Or, for all time?

See you at the movies.
It’s too bad they’re all in black and white.
I guess someday they’ll invent color film.
